After being in M2 for three years in a row we agreed that we reached the upper limit with our equipment/operation style/philosophy from TK0C location. We were seriously planing for MM in M4 style, but changed our minds almost in a last minute. We were not sure we can win MS (in EU, of course) with the setup we use - we already knew nobody would beat us in the number of the QSOs, but what about multipliers? Chalenges we love, CW even more
We introduced some new techniques and further improved the in-band operation. As with M2 every year, we set for improving the best hour rate also in MS - therefore the first hour and a half operation was fully optimized to beat decade old P33W record of 400 QSO/h. We managed to get to 417 Q/h and we believe 450 Q/h was in our reach.
Our core asset is a team spirit - it is always so satisfying being one of the 10 men group, where everybody contributes to the sucess through hard work. The team members this year: S53CC, S53F, S53MM, S53RM, S53WW, S55OO, S57AL, S57C, S57L, S57VW.
The antennas were like previous years (all made of wires), and we added first aluminium antenna (5el. for 10m) hoping for some short openings in other than main directions. We also added the 4th 40m antenna just to confirm that it is hard to get required inter-antenna isolation - playing with radiation pattern nulls (measured with a probe constructed by S51RM just few days before leaving S5) and exploring shore details (read as "adding more cable length") we managed to get it all working to our expectations.
LOG was uploaded immediately after contest ended. Livescore rules! Report written on a ferry back home and published from Livorno port.
