Hm, tudi Slovenija je imela možnost dobiti prvi satelit. Lahko bi ga kdo celo dobil na glavo. Več v tekstu in povezavah spodaj.

Information on Imminent Satellite Re-Entry

A United States satellite is falling back to earth and could potentially impact almost anywhere on the planet. The satellite has hazardous materials on board that could pose immediate hazards to people if they come in contact with the material. Specifically, the satellite contains fuel and metal containers that are considered hazardous materials and could survive entry intact. Any debris should be considered potentially hazardous, and should not be touched, handled, or moved.

The US Government decided to destroy the malfunctioned/ uncontrollable satellite before re-entering the Earth?s atmosphere, as was announced in Washington at the official press conference on February 14, 2008. According to the media, the United States will attempt to shoot down the satellite on 21 February 2008, when passing over the Pacific Ocean.

The satellite weighs approximately 2300 kg (5000 lbs) and about 50 percent of it will probably survive re-entry and could potentially impact on the ground. Of that amount, what is most concerning is the fuel tank which contains approximately 450 kg (1000 lbs) HYDRAZINE. There is also a fuel tank liner of BERYLLIUM compound, which is also hazardous material. There is no radiation on board the satellite.
